Pantone – the global authority on color – has recently announced the color of the year 2017 as PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery. It’s a fresh shade of green, bit to the yellowish side, that reminds the first days of spring and the awakening of the nature in springtime. It brings us back to nature and helps us appreciate all shades of green around us and the outdoors.
“While Serenity and Rose Quartz, the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016, expressed the need for harmony in a chaotic world,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalize and unite, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”
Color of Innovation:
The color green is often symbolized for environmentalism and nature but it’s also a popular choice of color of innovation since it’s often associated with modernity and freshness. In many areas of our lives such as health, energy and productivity we see green quite often. It’s also an attention-getting shade used by new apps and startups.
Greenery in Fashion:
Greenery – as a color that combines the blue hazes with vibrant yellows, it has a wide range of palettes as we see in the leaves of the plants. In terms of fashion, it adds freshness to the prints, as well as creates a pop of color when used in accessories or footwear. We saw green in the last collections of Kenzo, Michael Kors and Zac Posen applied to solids and prints and is also quite popular lately in children’s wear.
